Introduction: X-trant 140 mg capsule is used in the treatment of cancer of the prostate gland.

Mode of Action: Estramustine belongs to a class of anticancer/cytotoxic drugs called antimicrotubule agents.  It works by interfering with production of certain proteins which are necessary for tumor cell growth and reproduction. It also increases the estrogen levels, which in turn interferes with prostate cancer by slowing/stopping the growth of cancer cells.

Dosage: The doctor will advise the dose and duration of the dosage form.
Avoid X-trant 140 mg capsule with dairy products such as milk, cheese, curd, butter, paneer and ice cream.    

Side Effects: The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, anemia (low number of red blood cells), increased liver enzymes and fluid retention.
